About Us
About Stickler
We have been in business since 2004. Our specialist area is editing ESL/EFL academic work, including essays, dissertations, theses, and manuscripts for journals.
We know all the main academic style guides (such as Chicago, APA, Harvard, MLA, and Vancouver) inside and out, and a large part of our work entails ensuring documents adhere to the requirements of our clients' target journal or school.
We have edited millions of words to date. The bulk of our work comprises theses and dissertations, and papers for high impact factor journals including the Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Administrative Science Quarterly, International Journal of Logistics Management, Journal of Applied Accounting Research, Journal of Finance, Management Research Review, Personnel Review, and Quarterly Journal of Economics, to name a few.
Our approach is flexible and communicative, and we pride ourselves on the number of repeat clients and referrals we receive every month.
About Jinny Hayman, Owner and CEO
"Prior to forming Stickler I worked for several large companies, including IBM UK, Santoro Graphics and PricewaterhouseCoopers, primarily in marketing roles. In addition to holding a degree in English (BA Joint Hons Industrial [Marketing]), I have received formal training in copy editing from The Publishing Training Centre, the UK's pre-eminent training body for proofreading and related disciplines.
I have always been fascinated by the nuances of the English language—a stickler, you might say—and I am also a writer myself. I established Stickler in the UK in 2004, when I began editing documents for academics, businesses, students, and authors.
In 2013 I relocated to the US, which is where the company is now based. Over the years I have worked with both global and local businesses, as well as publishing houses, authors, societies of all shapes and sizes, charities, and a wide variety of academics and students.
I love the work I do, and always try to take a flexible and communicative approach, which has helped me to build great relationships with my clients.
Outside of work, I'm a musician, writer, artist, and dog lover, and a brown belt in Shōtōkan karate."
